Amita L ute’s love of dance started as a child in jazz and modern. As a student in a fine arts High School she pursued a dance career until knee and ankle injuries forced her to put her dreams on hold. Wanting to heal her injuries while continuing movement, a regular yoga practice developed. With renewed strength and flexibility Amita was ready to begin again. Cultural interest and curiosity lead her to Egyptian style dance. While studying in San Francisco she discovered a heart felt enthusiasm for this healing gentle art.
Presently Amita performs locally and is the founder/director of the Azar Dance Troupe. Sharing dance with others and helping to heal and connect them with natural movement is her passion and inspiration. As a Doula, Lactation Consultant and aspiring midwife she has combined her interests by creating a class for fertility and Birth Preparation. For three years she worked for the Pima County Health Departments Community Health and Dietetic Serves as a Health Educator and Breast Feeding Counselor.
As an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant Amita is qualified to assist mothers who are experiencing difficulties with breastfeeding. She is the owner of Womb Dance Lactation & Labor Support . Amita assists mothers and infants in there home to assure success with breastfeeding while supporting promoting and protecting the right of all children to be fed mothers milk when possible. Amita is the ice president of the Arizona Breastfeeding Coalition . With a bachelor of science degree in Community Health Sciences. Amita is trained in maternal and child health with an emphasis in nutrition.

Belly Dance History

Belly Dance is an invigorating yet relaxing exercise that opens the energy centers within the body. It gently tones the body while offering a fun atmosphere for expressive movement. Belly Dance was brought to the Chicago Worlds Fair in 1893 by Sol Bloom. This traditional celebratory dance has become a form of entertainment, exercise, and spirituality. The original form is said to have started in Egypt as a dance of fertility and birth ritual. Throughout the Middle East it is now performed in night clubs and hotels for entertainment. This dance embraces many aspects of natural movement.
